  • Professor Frank Coleman (1890-1967)

The first book of the Old Testament gives a recount of the formation of the planet earth. I love Science, but certain aspects of the bible can be applied in the modern world. "And then there was light," does not just suggest the sun, but something new. Have you ever felt "enlightened" when a new idea comes to you? Then you give your new idea life by whatever means are necessary. But the life of your idea will not prosper without giving it love. This is how I and my friends felt about organizing a fraternity. First there was the idea, Second the substance, and Third the time and affection we have given it for many years.

    Scholarship

The Second Cardinal Principle followed only by Manhood is Scholarship. There is never a point in a man's life where he knows all. Therefore we must strive for Scholarship. At the point when we give up is the point we lose our worth. People are admired because of physical properties, but people that show mental strength are honored.

    The Professor

Professor Frank Coleman Department of Physics,
    Howard University

At Washington, D.C., on July 11, 1890, there was born a Founder of Omega, Brother Frank Coleman.

In 1908, he graduated with honors from the M Street High School of Washington, now the Dunbar. Upon finishing the high school, he entered Howard University, from which he obtained the degree, Bachelor of Science. His record there was so outstanding that he was at once made an instructor in Physics.

Brother Coleman later took the degree of Master of Science from the University of Chicago. Subsequent graduate work he did at the University of Pennsylvania. He has met all the requirements for his Doctorate except the writing of his thesis.

When America entered the World War, he joined the army, became a first lieutenant, and served honorably overseas.

Aside from carrying on his regular work, Brother Coleman was a member of the Boys' Committee of YMCA, a Mason, an American Legionnaire and a Congregationalist.

I with Oscar Cooper and Edgar Love envisioned a land down in the valley that was purple and gold. The light we saw shined from beyond time itself. We took our light to Dr. Ernest Everett Just who assisted us in giving our foster mother life. The four of us combined gave all our love, peace and happiness to Omega.

    A Friend

It is extremely difficult to be a friend. A friend will call you no matter the occasion and expect you to drop everything to be there. Only a friend would give his own time to aid someone else that is struggling. A friend will have you believing you are wasting time waiting. But it is a true friend that will have faith and be there no matter how long it takes.
